Akin Chassis – 6-Robot Chassis Welding Line

Akin Chassis was doing light commercial vehicle chassis welding with 14 welders over two shifts. Because of quality variation and difficulty finding welders, the line was fully robotized.

Solution

• 2 × ER-W2 dual-robot welding stations, 2 × ER-W1 side-part welding
• Seam tracking with laser sensors
• MES integration and part traceability

Cycle time fell from 4.2 minutes to 1.6 minutes, weld rejects dropped from 3.8% to 0.6%; the investment paid for itself in 15 months.
